The Future of Digital Children’s Publishing

Transmedia storytelling is taking off, but the debate continues as to what digital technology means for the publishing sector. What are the trends and outlooks in digital children’s publishing, and what are the strategic implications for creation, technology and the publishing market – three intrinsically -linked issues? This conference provides an overview of recent changes in a sector shaken up in the last few years by digital technology.

The development of new formats and the disappearance of others, interconnectivity, and numerous rapid technical advances are having considerable impact on children’s publishing, and this impact should be assessed. With innovation comes new ways to publish, write, enrich content and enhance interaction, which professionals need to adopt and be able to market.

From an economic standpoint, the strategies and initiatives of publishers, pure players and media groups reflect different positions often considered as tests which mustn’t clash with print. Which kinds of experiments, studies and initiatives are publishing professionals trying? What are the results?
